Will we be notified if no one shows up for the appointment?
Yes. We always notify you in the event of an unforeseen situation.
How can I cancel, reschedule, or modify a service if I have an appointment?
Simply notify us at least 24 hours in advance for any cancellation without fees.
For any requests to cancel, modify, or add a service, please contact your case manager (territory manager).
What training does the staff have?
All our caregivers hold at a minimum:
- CPR certification;
- Safe Patient Handling Principles (PDSB) training.
In addition, many of our professionals hold:
- DEP in Health, Assistance, and Nursing Care (nursing assistant)
- Attestation of Vocational Studies (AEP)
- DEC in Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Law 90 / delegated acts
- Omega training
Are we required to commit to a minimum number of hours per week?
No. No minimum number of hours is required.
Do we pay the caregiver directly?
No. Serenis invoice you directly for the services provided. Serenis then takes care of paying the caregiver (PSW).
Can the service be terminated at any time?
Yes. The contract does not impose any obligation on your part regarding its duration. You can terminate the service at any time.
Is it always the same person providing the service?
Yes, whenever possible.
Stability is prioritized. However, some substitutions may be necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.
How does the service work in general?
- You make a request via our website or by phone.
- A Serenis manager will contact you.
- A nursing assessment is offered if needed.
- We allow a maximum of two weeks to find the appropriate resource.
In most cases, the need is met within the same week.
What are the employee categories and the tasks they can perform?
We provide services delivered by:
- Personal Support Workers (PSWs);
- Practical Nurses;
- Registered nurses.
Hourly rates vary by category.
For PSWs, tasks are assigned based on their training and may include:
- Personal hygiene care;
- Assistance with activities of daily living;
- Shopping;
- Light housekeeping;
- Monitoring and providing a reassuring presence;
- Medication administration, when permitted.
What are the rates, and are there any additional fees?
Rates vary depending on the area and type of service.
Additional fees may include mileage, if applicable.
All costs are discussed and clarified upfront with the manager.
Do you conduct background checks?
Yes. Each employee’s criminal, penal, and municipal records are checked before hiring.
How is the matching between the client and the caregiver done?
The manager or nurse assesses the needs and matches the client with the most suitable caregiver.
Several attempts may be made to find the best fit.
Our PSWs are trained to work with a variety of clients.
Is the assessment conducted in person?
Yes, when required. A registered nurse conducts the assessment in person if a care plan is needed and the request is approved, and this service is provided free of charge.
Is it possible to have split shifts?
Yes. Schedules can be adjusted according to the person’s needs.
