Even before being elected mayor, Valérie Plante promised to make intersections safer for seniors, as well as for children. To do this, she said she wanted to extend the duration of the traffic lights, allowing citizens with a less rapid step than a healthy adult, to get to the other side of the street, without difficulty. She also mentioned that a death had occurred last year due to a short crossing time and that despite this, no action had been taken to remedy the situation.

Ms. Plante, with the same goal of improving the quality of life for seniors, proposed during her election campaign to introduce free public transit for all seniors.

Only the future will tell us if these projects will be completed, but remain confident in this wind of innovation that flushes the new mayor.
